Your Visit

We understand that coming to a pelvic health appointment can feel a little daunting, especially if it’s your first time. Our goal is to make you feel comfortable, supported, and at ease from the moment you walk through the door.

Your First Appointment

Your initial appointment is all about getting to know you. We’ll take the time to listen to your story, understand your symptoms, and talk through your goals.

We’ll guide you through a thorough assessment and begin to develop a treatment plan that feels right for you.
Your appointment may last up to 60 minutes, allowing plenty of time so you never feel rushed.

Before your visit, we’ll send you some forms to complete. If you’re unable to complete these beforehand, you’re welcome to arrive a few minutes early and finish them in the clinic.

Follow-up appointments

Follow-up sessions are 40-60 minutes, depending on your needs and treatment plan. At each appointment, we’ll continue to reassess, guide your progress, and adjust your treatment to make sure you’re moving toward your goals.

What might my assessment involve?

Every appointment is tailored to you.

Your assessment may include:

An internal (vaginal or rectal) examination may be discussed. These assessments are considered gold standard to best understand pelvic floor function, but are always optional. Our physiotherapists are highly trained in these assessments and have completed high-level competencies in this area. We will explain everything clearly, answer any questions, and make sure you feel completely comfortable before proceeding. There are always alternative assessment options available.

Your Comfort & Privacy

Your comfort is our priority. We provide a private, respectful space and use towels and draping to ensure you feel at ease throughout your appointment.

You’re always in control of your assessment and treatment, and we’ll work at a pace, and with options, that feel right for you.

Everything discussed in your appointment is completely confidential.

FAQ’s

do I need a referral?

You don’t need a referral to see us. If you’ve recently seen a specialist or had a procedure, bringing any relevant information along can be helpful. If you’re accessing care through DVA or Medicare (Chronic Disease Management), a GP referral is required.

what should I bring to my appointment?

If you have any relevant medical documents, referrals, or a list of medications, bring those along. Otherwise, just bring yourself and we’ll guide you through everything.

what should I wear?

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. If we need you to move or assess certain areas, we’ll make sure you feel supported and covered at all times.

How does payment work?

Payment is made at the time of your appointment. We can process private health insurance rebates on the spot, so you’ll only pay the gap. If you’re eligible for a Medicare rebate, we can process that for you too.

what if I need to cancel or reschedule?

We understand that life happens. If you need to change your appointment, we just ask for at least 24 hours’ notice where possible. Late cancellations may incur a 50% fee, and missed appointments a 100% fee, as we often have an extensive demand and waitlist for appointments.

can I bring my baby or children?

Absolutely, babies and little ones are always welcome. That said, some people find they get more out of their session if they’re able to attend on their own or bring someone along to help with their child. Whatever works best for you.

I have my period, should I still come?

Yes, you’re still very welcome to attend. We can always adjust the assessment to suit your comfort on the day.

do I have to have a vaginal assessment?

Not at all. While internal assessments can provide helpful information, they are always your choice. We’ll talk you through all options and ensure you feel completely comfortable with your decision.
